Junior Women’s ITT
After leaving Trento, the time trial course followed the valley roads on an out and back 22.4km long route through local vineyards and orchards. Although situated in a mountainous region, the course was flat with only one minor undulation. The winner of the Junior ITT title in 2020, Dutch rider Elise Uijen, was again a favourite but in the end she had to settle for third place behind Antonia Niedermaier of Germany and the new champion, Russian rider Alena Ivanchenko, who stopped the clock at 29:11 minutes.
Mixed Team Relay
Each relay team consisted of three men and three women riders, who covered two laps of the time trial course for a total of 44.8km. First the three men rolled down the start ramp and once the second male rider crossed the start and finish line, the three women were able to start. When the second female rider crossed the line, the clock stopped to mark the team’s time. 2020 winner Germany was also a favourite today but was expected to have strong competition from France and Italy. Austria, fielding a mixed team for the first time set a benchmark time of 55:23. The Netherlands put in a strong performance and finished third while Germany crossed the line in second. In the end the team from Italy comprising of Elisa Longo Borghini, Elena Cecchini, Marta Cavalli, Filippo Ganna, Matteo Sobrero and Alessandro Di Marchi won the 2021 European mixed team relay title in a time of 51:59.
