Simac Success For SD Worx

In the final stage of the Simac Ladies Tour, Team SD Worx took charge of the race. Lotte Kopecky, Lorena Wiebes and Mischa Bredewold were in the front, with Elena Cecchini, Barbara Guarischi and Femke Markus holding fort at the back. Lotte Kopecky launched Lorena Wiebes into the sprint with a firm lead-out. The European champion steamed to the stage win and the world champion took the overall win. “After three second places, I really wanted to win the sprint today. We rode a strong Simac Ladies Tour with three stage wins and the overall victory,” said Lorena Wiebes.

“I had had it with those second places,” she laughed. “I was keen to take the win in the sprint today. When that group was in front, it was good that Lotte Kopecky, Mischa Bredewold and I hadn’t missed the boat. Lotte and Mischa made the course hard and controlled everything. At the back, our other teammates stopped. Lotte provided the perfect lead-out. When your team works for you like that, you just have to finish it. After a tough stage race, I still had a lot of strength in my legs, so I am happy with this feeling. Within the team we lift each other to a better level and give each other wings.”

Lotte Kopecky took the overall win in Simac Ladies Tour, her very first overall win in a stage race ever at WorldTour level, after she also won a time trial at the highest level for the first time earlier this week. “It is simply a top season. To win a final classification at this level for the first time is special. I hope I can continue this form until the European championships,” said the world champion.
