La Vuelta and Giro Donne overall winner Annemiek van Vleuten will seek to achieve back-to-back success in the ‘Grande Boucle’, after her 2022 win. She will be supported all the way by a strong Telefónica-backed squad. The prestigious 956 km stage race starts in Clermont-Ferrand on Sunday 23rd July and runs until Sunday 30th July.
Sporting the ’iceberg’ kit worn earlier this month by their male teammates at the men’s Tour de France, the Movistar Team riders aspire to continue making their mark in what has been a very successful 2023, during this 2nd edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
The group, managed by Sebastián Unzué, with Jorge Sanz and Jürgen Roelandts as sports directors, will again rely on the quality of Annemiek van Vleuten, who will start pressure-free, after her victories in La Vuelta Femenina and the Giro Donne. Emma Norsgaard, Liane Lippert, Aude Biannic, Floortje Mackaij, Paula Patiño and Sheyla Gutiérrez complete the exciting seven-woman lineup for the ‘Grande Boucle’.
The French grand tour is expected to be decided in 2023 on its two final stages. The peloton taking on the Aspin and the Tourmalet on Saturday 29th, before a 22km ITT in and around Pau defines the GC result on Sunday 30th. Days two -six rated ascents towards Mauriac- and four -almost 180km towards Rodez- also promise to shake up the bunch.
