Olympians & Paralympians Prepare For National Track Champs

The 2025 Lloyds National Track Championships are only a few weeks away, when the finest riders in the country will descend on Manchester for the three-day event running from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd February.

Some of the biggest names in the sport will be racing at the home of British Cycling – the National Cycling Centre – with Olympic and Paralympic champions taking to the track in pursuit of domestic honours.

Women’s sprint

Olympic champions Emma Finucane and Sophie Capewell will be among those entertaining the crowds as teammates become rivals in the women’s keirin and sprint events, which will take place across the Saturday and Sunday respectively. They will also face fierce competition from reigning national sprint and keirin champion Lauren Bell and Scottish champion Kirsty Johnson.

Olympian Lowri Thomas and previous sprint champion Rhian Edmunds will team up with Bell for the team sprint.

Daphne Schrager will spearhead the para-cycling women’s time-trial, while Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl will be hoping to take the title in the tandem 1km event, with competition from Lizzi Jordan and Dani Khan, and Lora Fachie with new pilot Charlotte Deykin.

Women’s endurance

Two-time Olympic champion Katie Archibald will return to her training ground in Manchester ready to take on the bunch races in a fantastic women’s field. Archibald will be challenged for the scratch and points titles by the likes of her pursuit world champion teammates Anna Morris, Josie Knight, Jess Roberts and Meg Barker, as well as Olympian Neah Evans. Double defending champion Jenny Holl will also be one to watch, alongside junior world gold medallists Cat Ferguson, Imogen Wolff, Carys Lloyd and Erin Boothman.

Pursuit world champion Morris is the hot favourite for the individual pursuit, with previous national champion Evans also fighting for another title. Schrager will be looking for the para-cycling pursuit title, while Unwin and Holl, Jordan and Khan and Fachie and Deykin are the podium tandem favourites.
