National Title For Nelson

Josie Nelson today powered around the hilly national time trial course in the village of Catterick, setting the timing sheets alight and becoming the British U23 national champion.

After claiming her first win as a professional earlier this year at the Tour de Normandie Féminin, this marks Nelson’s second victory in Team dsm-firmenich PostNL colours. In her first participation at the national U23 championships, Nelson was determined to show her strength on home roads. Riding to the pacing plan perfectly, Nelson put on a dominant display of power over the hilly and challenging 30-kilometre route. Using the knowledge gained from the team’s experts throughout the season, Nelson flew around the course and claimed the title by over one minute and fifty seconds ahead of her nearest rival.

After her win, Nelson said with a smile, “It was a great course, with a few steep descents into sharp corners and then mostly rolling roads. I’ve worked a lot with the team on my TT bike this year, so seeing the improvements is nice. We had a good pacing plan in place, and I could even push more than we had expected. I am happy to take the title at my first participation in the National TT Championships!”

After today’s dominant performance, all eyes will be on Nelson to see what victory she can power to next.
