Following their recent success in the Giro d’Italia Women and La Picto-Charentaise, the Movistar Team heads with great ambition and morale to the third edition (under its current format) of the Tour de France Femmes from Monday 12th – Sunday 18th August. Having been the yellow jersey winner in 2022 and dual stage winners in 2023, the Telefónica-backed squad hopes to remain a big player in the last Grand Tour of the season.
The squad – managed by Sebastián Unzué, Tim Harris and Jorge Sanz – will bring a seven-woman lineup, including their two stage winners from the 2023 race: Liane Lippert and Emma Norsgaard. Alongside them will be the Giro’s 11th-place overall finisher, Mareille Meijering, one of two Dutch women together with Floortje Mackaij. Also on the roster are Canadian Olivia Baril and two Spaniards: Sheyla Gutiérrez and Sara MartÃn, making her debut in the ‘Grande Boucle’.
A short ITT and intense racing against the wind will open the stage race, together with the ‘Amstel vs Liège‘ on Wednesday in the Ardennes. The challenging stage race will end with two Alpine routes at the weekend: to Le Grand-Bornand on Saturday 17th, followed by the Glandon (HC) + Alpe d’Huez showdown a day later.
