As part of the comprehensive cycling plan for 2024 and beyond – which sees Liv Racing TeqFind combine forces with Team Jayco AlUla – the Australian outfit is thrilled to be welcoming Spanish climber Mavi Garcia into its ranks for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Garcia has proven her pedigree time and time again and despite only focusing on cycling full-time in 2018, having previously competed in duathlon, she has risen to the top rapidly. In just a few years, Mavi has achieved an impressive list of palmares in some of the biggest races on the women’s UCI WorldTour calendar.
A Giro d’Italia overall podium finisher, Garcia has what it takes to lead the Australian team in their hunt for general classification success in the coming seasons. Her signing is set to bolster the squad, as it continues to add strength and depth to all areas, with ambitions of becoming one of the best teams in the women’s WorldTour peloton.
The 39-year-old has not only enjoyed success in the longer hilly stage races but has displayed great resilience and strength in one-day races with her open and aggressive racing approach. The Spaniard is always willing to take risks in attempt to take the victory, which has seen her stand on the top step of the podium in the challenging Classic Lorient Agglomération – Trophée Ceratizit in Plouay. She also came close to victory with a second place finish in the iconic Strade Bianche.
Brent Copeland – Team Jayco AlUla General Manager commented, “Mavi is a very exciting addition to the team. She joins us as part of the exciting new project with Liv Cycling and having her come onboard is a very big boost for us. Mavi has shown that she is a very solid rider that is able to race up front with the general classification contenders. She is not afraid to attack, take risks and we have been impressed with her racing style over the years, despite coming into the WorldTour peloton at a fairly late age.
Having Mavi onboard, I think it can change our approach and how we race going forward with having a real target in the Grand Tours, which are becoming more and more demanding each season.”
Mavi Garcia concluded, “I’m happy to join the team, because from the outside it looks like a very nice atmosphere. I have always thought that it is a great structure, very professional and we had made some attempts before and finally now our paths meet.
Every year, I have been improving a lot. This year has not been the best for me, but I have also learned many things. I never go backwards, always forwards and above all with enthusiasm. I would like to be able to enjoy the races together in 2024 with the team and I hope that we can create a strong union to achieve victories.
We will of course continue with Liv; the best bike I’ve had in the teams I’ve been on. I also like the philosophy of the brand and how much they contribute to women’s sports.”
