Lotte Kopecky has announced her schedule for this spring. The world champion will begin next week in the UAE Tour and will conclude her spring season on April 22nd with the prestigious Liège-Bastogne-Liège. This is the first time the Team SD Worx – Protime rider will ride the Ardennes Classic.
Kopecky sees the UAE Tour as a warm-up towards the first two Classics of her season: Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Strade Bianche. She will then switch her cycling arena by participating in the UCI Nations Cup in Hong Kong. A week later, the important classics period begins in earnest with Kopecky due to take part in Gent-Wevelgem, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
If all goes according to plan, two more races may be added to Kopecky’s program – Danilith Nokere Koerse on March 13th followed by the Dwars door Vlaanderen on March 27th.
Kopecky mainly has her sights set on Paris-Roubaix this spring, but is also looking forward to Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
“I think Liège is also a race that should be within my capabilities,” Kopecky said. “Last year was also my first time in the Amstel Gold Race and it turned out well. Before, these Classics were too tough for me. But two years ago I already experienced in the Strade Bianche that these races also started to suit me. After last season, I also consider myself capable of competing for victory in Liège-Bastogne-Liège.”
