The riders of Team Jayco AlUla are preparing for the La Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday 19th April with confidence following their performance in the Amstel Gold race. Rider, Ane Santesteban said, “I was in the select group fighting for second place at Amstel Gold and on all the climbs I felt really strong, so this gives me lot of confidence for Flèche Wallonne, which is my favourite of the Ardennes races.
This is the 10th time I will do Flèche and from the very beginning it is a race I loved. There are lots of really short and steep climbs all day and that suits me well. And of course finishing up the famous Mur de Huy makes this race so special.”
Shawn Clarke, Sport Director added, “After Amstel Gold Race, everyone is pretty happy with how things went, we had two really good options that we backed all day and it almost worked out for us with Kristen Faulkner’s move with a lap and half to go.
I think on Sunday we raced a lot better than the results showed, so that gives us a lot of confidence going into Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday, which is a better race for our team and we’ll be looking to Ane and Kristen again as our protected leaders to give us some options in the final.”
