Jade Evans: Vox Performance Project Reflections

The opportunity to join the Vox Performance project came at the right time. I was just about to complete my first 70.3 and my knowledge was limited on triathlon in general never mind understanding the importance of fuelling and hydrating correctly, not only during training but pre and post to improve recovery and performance.

The project has given me the opportunity to become a stronger athlete not just physically but mentally and for this I will be forever grateful.

Being part of a programme, which has been sponsored by Supersapiens and Precision Fuel and Hydration has given me the knowledge on how to fuel and hydrate sufficiently pre, during and post training. The monthly calls provided me with strategies to explore on these subjects but also has given me the understanding on how my menstrual cycle affects training and what I can do to better support my goals through my cycle, but also to be kinder to myself when at times my body is unable to achieve what it did in the previous week. This can also be said for stress and understanding the impact this can have on my mental and physical performance.

The project has taken time to educate a group of women who all want to be the best versions of themselves and it’s most definitely achieved this objective.

Moving in to my next chapter I am focusing on building upon this knowledge to bring the best performance I can to Switzerland Ironman in July, if I am lucky enough to call myself an Ironman I know it will be partially down to the support this project has given me, I feel extremely fortunate and grateful to have been accepted in to this programme.

Not only has this project given me knowledge and confidence but it’s also brought me closer to a group of like minded amazing women who continue to push the boundaries of performance and exceed expectations.

I just want to say a massive thank you for this unforgettable opportunity. The investment in us as a group of women is quite incredible and I hope I can truly repay the thank you when I am able to call myself an Ironman.

Just a reminder, you are capable of anything you set your mind to! Work hard, invest in yourself physically and mentally and strive for consistency and happiness.

Good luck on your journey!
