Italian Champion Elisa Longo Borghini of UAE Team ADQ had to withdraw from Sunday’s Tour of Flanders with concussion.
The team reported that Elisa had crashed and tried to continue. But the team withdrew her from the race as she had a head injury and was showing signs of confusion.
Longo Borghini was transferred immediately to the hospital at Oudenaarde where she underwent a CT scan and medical diagnosis. She was diagnosed with a concussion with no signs of any internal bleeding. After this she was transferred to the University Hospital in Gent. The hospital kept her in overnight and planned to observe her for 24 hours after which more medical updates will be given.
