Eline Van Rooijen concluded a successful season on a high as the winner of the Topcompetitie Netherlands; a prestigious series of races held throughout the Dutch cycling season. The series ultimately awards the title to the best female rider based on the total points accumulated. Additionally, the AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step U23 riders secured a solid third-place finish in the team classification.
Team manager Christian Kos said, “Although our team participated in only a few of the qualifying races, we performed admirably. This led us to finish third in the team classification. Eline had an outstanding year and displayed consistent form. Her victory in the Zuiderzeeronde immediately propelled her to the top of the standings, a position she held onto. While our paths may diverge now, we will continue to monitor Eline’s progress.”
A very happy Eline added,”This season, the Topcompetition unfolded differently than usual. Typically, there are four races, but this year, one was suspended, and the other did not start. Consequently, only two races took place. Fortunately, I managed to secure victory in the first race and delivered a strong performance in the second. I’m naturally delighted to have claimed the jersey, but it’s regrettable that we only had two races instead of four. Nonetheless, the ceremony was a lovely way to conclude the season.”
