Cecchini Commits Another Year To Team

Elena Cecchini has extended her contract and her commitment to Team SD Worx-Protime by one year. As road captain, the Italian is an important culture carrier within the Dutch WorldTeam. “Elena Cecchini breathes the DNA of Team SD Worx-Protime and is an important foundation of our team. You can always count on her,’ said sports manager Danny Stam.

Elena Cecchini joined Team SD Worx-Protime in 2021 and worked her way up to become a key road captain. Danny Stam added, ‘Elena is someone young riders look up to. She sees through the course and does a lot of work for her teammates. She sacrifices herself without grumbling. We owe several victories to her work. In addition, Elena is an important mood creator. She carries the DNA of this team within her. Next season, her role will be all the more important. There will be a number of new riders and then Elena will be the one to help forge a group out of it.’

For Cecchini, a contract extension felt like exactly the right choice. ‘I feel at home here. I have a good relationship with everyone. You feel this is really a team. The staff members are also good with each other and derive a lot of pleasure from their work. That reflects on the riders. It is also extra nice to work for the best riders in the world. I feel a lot of appreciation for my work in this team. You can make that extra effort because you know there is a big chance that those champions will just finish it off. That is the best reward. With sport, you can inspire and make people happy. But ultimately, as a top athlete, you want to win as much as possible.’

‘I owe a lot to this team. I definitely wanted to go to the Olympics one more time and this team helped me get my selection for Paris 2024. I also feel the confidence and get drafted into the races I love. This is a special team that suits me perfectly and where I want to end my career in the long run!’
