AG Insurance – Soudal Quick-Step has had to replace strong pawn Justine Ghekiere for the Strade Bianche that will take place this weekend on March 4th. The Belgian rider, who recently won the Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, will not be at the start of Strade Bianche due to illness. At the beginning of this week, Justine was hit by a cold, which prevented her from training sufficiently in preparation for the race.
The team has made the difficult decision not to let Justine, who is insufficiently fit, start and to replace her with Julia Borgström.
“I am disappointed that I will not be at the start of Strade Bianche this weekend,” said Justine. “Because of the good start I made this year, I was really looking forward to be part of this race together with my teammates. Hopefully I will recover quickly and be able to fully focus on the next race on my calendar.”
